2018 seems to be flying by. We are half way through the year already and lots of exciting things have happened. In just the last few weeks we have seen a visit by a world class team of quality improvement experts from the Institute of Healthcare Improvement (IHI).

The IHI visit helped us to map the strengths across our partnership, and to identify gaps. They also focused on developing our shared understanding by supporting the development of quality improvement skills in our senior leadership.

June also saw the NHS Confederation’s annual conference ‘Confed 18’ with its theme of ‘Celebrating the past, shaping the future’.  I was fortunate enough to be there to meet health and social care leaders, share challenges and try to find practical solutions.  The event also saw the premiere of a suite of videos made by NHS England with ITN Productions to celebrate 70 years of the NHS.

In addition to the central video there are some others focusing on the work of leading health and social care partnerships including one that looks at some of the achievements of Surrey Heartlands. You can watch it here or on the Surrey Heartlands website’s homepage.

The videos are a celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the NHS on 5 July 1948. And we are holder our own celebration event in the shape of a concert of choir music at Guildford’s G-Live theatre on 5 July 2018. There are still some tickets available and details of how to obtain them are below. I hope you will be able to join us.

With very best wishes,

Dr Claire Fuller, Senior Responsible Officer for Surrey Heartlands
