Last week (16th March) saw Young Carers Action Day, an annual event led by the Carers Trust to raise awareness of young carers and the incredible contribution they make to their families and to local communities.

Estimates suggest we have over 14,000 young carers in Surrey – these are children and young people under the age of 18 with caring responsibilities as they try to balance their caring role with daily life.

The Carers Trust website has resources for both young carers and professionals that work with them. Locally, support is also available from Action for Carers Surrey.

Has your organisation made the pledge?
As part of our Surrey Young Carers Strategy, Surrey Heartlands has made a commitment to support young carers by taking the Surrey Young Carers Pledge. You can help raise awareness of young carers in your organisation by doing the same and together we can make life better and protect the future of all our young carers across Surrey.
