Dr Charlotte Canniff has been elected as the new Clinical Chair for the proposed new Surrey Heartlands CCG, and has taken up the role as Clinical Chair Designate from 6 January 2020.
Dr Canniff is already the Clinical Chair of North West Surrey CCG and clinical lead for primary care transformation within the Surrey Heartlands Integrated Care System (ICS).
As preparation for the new Surrey Heartlands CCG, elections were held with member practices from all four current Surrey Heartlands CCGs (East Surrey, Guildford & Waverley, North West Surrey and Surrey Downs who are planning to merge from 1st April this year) in the weeks running up to Christmas.
Matthew Tait, Joint Accountable Officer at Surrey Heartlands CCGs, said: “Now that we have appointed the new Chair, we will proceed to appoint the rest of the Governing Body in preparation for the new merged CCG which, subject to final regulatory approval, we expect to be formally established on 1 April 2020. All four existing Clinical Chairs will continue in their current roles until 31st March.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank both Dr Canniff and Dr Russell Hills for standing for election; together with Dr Sian Jones and Dr Elango Vijaykumar who have all worked hard as Clinical Chairs for their respective organisations over the last few years.”
