Across Surrey Heartlands we have now given over 1.5 million Covid-19 vaccinations through a combination of walk-in sites, pop-up clinics, our GP-led vaccination centres, outreach teams and the large vaccination site at Sandown Park racecourse (which moved from Epsom racecourse at the end of May).
As the focus has moved to younger age groups we have been offering more pop-up clinics in places frequented by younger adults and teenagers (now we’ve extended the age groups to include all 16-17 year olds), with nearly 20,000 vaccinations given to those under 18. These pop-ups clinics include theme parks such as Chessington and Thorpe Park (also featuring on the national news!), town centres and shopping malls. More information on our latest clinics is available on our website here or via the NHS walk-in coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination finder. We have also published a wealth of additional information and FAQs here.
GPs are also inviting at-risk children aged between 12 and 15 years old, who are clinically vulnerable to covid or live with adults who are at increased risk of serious illness from the virus to have the vaccination.
Having a vaccine is one of the most important things you can do to protect yourself and your loved ones and help us to get back to normal.
From September, the focus of the vaccination programme is expected to shift towards third doses of the vaccine to run alongside the seasonal flu programme and we are currently awaiting further national guidance on this.
As a system we are now scoping how our delivery programme will work and would ask people to be patient, we will contact you when it’s your turn to receive your vaccinations.
The ongoing offer for Covid-19 vaccination will remain in place for anyone yet to receive a first dose for any reason, and to provide a second dose for all those who received first doses over the summer.
