Inspirational, exciting and encouraging– that’s how delegates at the Surrey Heartlands Academy’s Connections event described the day as more than 70 colleagues from across the partnership came together for an event focused on Quality Improvement.

They heard from keynote speaker Professor Steve Powis, National Medical Director of NHS England, on the national perspective. He was followed by an excellent talk on Improving Clinical Pathways by Dr Chris Streather, Group Chief Medical Director of The Royal Free London.

Dr Bob Klaber, Consultant General Paediatrician at Imperial College, then spoke on Connecting Care for Children, describing how integrated child health GP hubs had been introduced in north London and the impact of this work.  “The single biggest thing we have to do is to think differently,” he said.

Dr Mark Hamilton, Executive Clinical Director for the Surrey Heartlands Academy, said: “The Connection event is about connecting people and building relationships across the partnership to enable us all to work better together. We were delighted to welcome Professor Steve Powis to Surrey Heartlands and to share with him some of the excellent work that we’re doing on quality improvement.”
